8 Ways to Search for Authority Links

The best link building requires searching for authority links, establishing contact with potential linking sites, negotiating the best link possible and then continuously monitoring acquired links. Being successful in finding the right links will determine the effectiveness of your link building campaign. The potential for links is almost endless with millions of sites in or publishing content related to every vertical. Maximizing opportunity requires a varied approach to searching for links.

Here are a few tips to help your link search:

Look up your competitors’ backlinks.

Identify the link sites to the link sites. After identifying your competitors backlinks look up their backlinks, and so on and so on…

Search for your desired and variations + {year – starting at 1999}.This will help bring up some of the older more “algorithmically respected” sites and often underutilized sites that got left behind in the time warp.

Use multiple search engines when searching for link opportunities. This will give you a variety and help you find authority sites for a mix of algorithms (important when optimizing for more than just Google).

Follow outbound links from potential link sites to other relevant sites. Blogrolls are great for this because they provide starting list that grow exponentially very quickly.

Search in DMOZ. This is great because many DMOZ sites are old, they are DMOZ listed (obviously), and there are many gems that have not kept up with current optimization standards enough to be easily found in search results.

Search in Social. Sites like Digg are perfect for finding potential linking sites with high crawl rates. The percentage of relevant sites that are not pitching a product or service are higher unlike search engines that turn up many competitors unlikely to link to you no matter what you offer them.

Adsense, and other ad networks. Using ad networks to find potential link opportunities is really easy. Run your text ad and view your analytics. Approach the sites you want links directly after seeing them in your reports. These lists are great because they are proven to be relevant to your keywords, you get both traffic and conversion data, which will help you to quantify the link value even further, and you know that the sites are open to text links, your only challenge will be to convince them to provide an SEO friendly link in place of your PPC or CPM ad.

Link Building question by Gael Steve: Please Can anyone tell me the difference between Link Building and Link Exchange?
I am very confused and also want to know which one is better?

Link Building best answer:

Answer by Tom
According to me in Link Building.. You can exchange links with many websites. In other words, getting links from other sites to your own site. Getting high quality “inbound links” is extremely important if you want high rankings on Google and other major search engines.

But Link exchange is “link popularity” of a site with Web search engines, and of being relatively stable methods of hyperlinking. However If you want to promote your web site on a limited budget, then link exchange is undeniably the best option.

Link Building is the process of creating strong back links to your site on different websites. This way, you can increase your website visitors. Before you read the rest of this tutorial, you might want to read my other article about how to get your website indexed by google by clicking here. That way you know your website is in their directory for anything to show up.

I know it may seem like a tedious process for your website – but once you do this, it really pays off – and that way you don’t need to buy bogus traffic. If you want to generate website traffic, there’s a few things that you should consider before doing this. Content is an essential key so visitors will have something pleasing to read.

Set a goal each day, like ay you will post 5x a day on your website. Now, I will begin to show you the steps of link building.

Submit your site to Link Directories
There are some good link directory programs out there that are free to generate a small amount of traffic. Try looking them up on google and signing up to 10 link directories just to start out. It may take 2-4 days to get your link approved by admins. but it’s worth the traffic you will get in the long run.

Submit your site to search engines
Search engines provide a great way of getting a steady flow of traffic. The first 3 search engines you should submit your website to is Google, Yahoo, and MSN. That way you will get your maximum views for your website. You can extend your results by looking for more search directories as well. Try submitting your website to 2 search engines each dy and you should have loyal visitors in no time.

Social Networking
The best way to market your website is by social networking. Head on over to Myspace and make an account. It doesn’t have to be myspace, can be Facebook, Twitter, Hi5, or any other site. You should upload your logo in the place of your profile picture. It’s possible that you can build up to 1,000 friends in 5 days with consistant work.

I know of three online programs that are free so you can add up to 500 friends each day. Most of these sites work like this – you add friends, then each friend you add- you get a number of points for. Each point or points you receive – gives you friends that request an add from you. If you look in my post about how to get 500 myspace friends, you’ll learn alot. Here is the link.

Forums
Popular forums are the best way to promote your site. If you post detailed tutorials and articles, you will have traffic to your website in no time. Set aside 1 hour each day to write one tutorial about something you know about but make sure it is related to your website topic or the visitors you will get won’t enjoy your site. Trust me, the internet is a vast oasis and people are out there searching for all kinds of information to benefit their knowledge.

Submit your site to Article Websites
There are around 50 article submission sites out there that you can submit to. The only con to this is that it takes about 6-13 days to become approved once you submit an article. Make sure your grammar is correct and you do spellcheck as well. It’s always good to have someone else proof read. I really reccomend starting out with the less popular submission sites because the admins. don’t get that much e-mail, therefore they can publish your article in less than 6 days. Work your way up from there. You can also try EzineArticles, that’s a great place to begin.

This is a very topical and well written book on Latino markets backed up with stats and great case studies. Highly recommended for managers and business students who want to understand the online consumer behavior of Latinos in the U.S. and abroad. Joe Kutchera is a great speaker with abundance of relevant case studies and deep insights of Latino markets.

This book will really help you understand how Hispanics are using online media and the best way to reach them as a target market. I like the fact that the book contains graphs and case studies that will help you get a better idea to help you get started. This book is great for marketing research and for the academic classroom.
